Black Powder Tavern Hosts Allagash Beer Dinner (drink philly)

Wayne’s Black Powder Tavern is going to give Allagash Brewing Company a real taste of colonial-era history on Wednesday, July 23, when the Maine-based brewery joins the restaurant and bar for a special dinner.

While the menu being served boasts a selection of tasty, contemporary dishes, the dinner’s setting will deliver the history lesson. The tavern, which first opened for business way back in 1746, once served as important secret meeting place for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution.

Chef Q&A: Nongyao Moon Krapugthong (The Town Dish)

July 11th, 2014 Posted by Uncategorized No Comment yet
Meet Nongyao ‘Moon’ Krapugthong—the heavy-hitting forerunner of Manayunk’s up-and-coming food scene. Charming and charismatic, the ultra-talented chef decided in 2004 to sink her restaurateur roots into this thriving community along the banks of the Schuylkill River. A decade later, with two flavor-packed, well-executed Main Street restaurants under her culinary belt, she continues to educate diners on the true spirit and traditions of her homeland (Thailand!) with Chabaa Thai Bistro, as well as deliver a multi-sensory dose of umami to both body and soul with her superior Japanese concept, Yanako. Not only does she have an accomplished culinary career, but she’s also an elegant storyteller, a talented artist, incredibly philanthropic and Manayunk’s biggest cheerleader. Get up close and personal with the chef below. – See more at:
